 The Pièce de Résistance is a chic, online, sweets boutique (and blog!) specializing in uniquely CUSTOM, hand-decorated, gourmet, sugar cookies for all holiday, wedding, birthday, and everyday celebrations. It is run by me, a Birmingham-based, bubbly baker, Syrah Gilley. You can find me daily at PDRsweets.com, as well as out in my garden, crafting in the kitchen, and, if I'm lucky, gallivanting in some new corner of the globe.

I have a unique angle on this “sweet” venture of mine, having studied product design first, then developing an infinite curiosity for all things culinary. PDR is a delightful fusion of my appreciation for the art of cooking and the beauty of hand-crafted things.

I bake with incredibly fresh eggs, fruit and herbs from my family farm in Florence, Alabama - Shamorafic Stables – and am always looking to source more ingredients from my community. Buy local! PDR has been featured in Southern Living, The Birmingham News, Amy Atlas Events, among others.

 The PDR blog is part of a mission to showcase an array of phenomenal cookie-esque items and ideas to inspire the most special occasions and everyday moments. There you’ll find a slew of sweet recipes, entertaining inspiration, ingredient profiles and the random tangent that just had to be shared.
